The Art and Science of Movement

Dr. Davies newest educational experience is his first foray into providing an online learning experience. In the “Art and Science of Movement” Craig has taken thousands of peer reviewed articles from numerous fields of science and connected the dots, and combined with his 20 years of experience in numerous health and fitness professions, to help illustrate the vast complexity that is the human body’s capability to produce magnificent movement. In this course, Dr. Davies tackles and debunks many of the commonly accepted myths that circulate in the athlete development world and helps illuminate the incredible connectedness of the body’s systems. We will look at the body from various vantage points, from the molecular level to the macroscopic and social levels, and realize they all interact and play a necessary role in enabling movement and learning to occur.

In The Art and Science of Movement you will gain an appreciation of how embryology helps organize our bodies into a complex web of continuity and how force, in various forms, helps shape our anatomy and how our anatomy helps shape what force we can both produce and absorb.

You will dive into the continuous interplay between the brain and the rest of our nervous system and peak into how our body “stores” movement and begin to appreciate how movement learning and skill acquisition may occur.

Whether you are a coach, trainer, teacher or therapist helping athletes move better this course should be mandatory for you.  If you are an athlete trying to improve your programming, or your body’s capacity to perform, this course will open your mind to a new understanding of your potential and opportunity for improvement.

The Art and Science of Movement does not push the understanding of movement a little further ahead. Instead, it drives the archaic thought processes we have been told in academic institutions and the dogma that has been accepted in health and fitness circles to the curb. This course will completely change the way most people consider the human body’s potential to improve and perform from here on out.

Some of the topics covered in The Art and Science of Movement include:

  • Embryology and the Continuity of Tissue
  • Mechanotransduction, Cellular and intercellular communication
  • Biotensegrity
  • Our body’s sensory receptors and how they affect our body’s understanding of movement and force and how they can be used to create healthier and more mobile joints
  • Unilateral vs Bilateral movements
  • Current concepts in the mapping of our body by the brain and how the various tissues and organs of our body interact with our peripheral and central nervous systems to create and store movement
  • The concept of Dynamic End range Assisted Progressions (DEAP) and how they will help unlock more movement in your joints quickly and safely
  • Joint Flow and how you can learn to connect your adjacent joints to further unlock your movement potential

Every person who takes The Art and Science of Movement’s online program will have access to this course for as long as this course is in existence.  Each future chapter update and new addition will be forwarded to you for your enjoyment and learning opportunity.
